In Turkish, Mavi means ‘blue’ – a word that is fairly common.
In the world of denim, however, we are anything but. Infusing Mediterranean detail with world-class denim, we give an exotic twist to an otherwise run-of-the-mill garment.
Today, clothes are intentionally divorced from their origins, but we choose to stand out. We celebrate the rich culture of our exotic background; we seize every opportunity to show off our mastery of techniques acquired over more than 50 years in the industry.
The 2011 Bread and Butter trade show in Berlin is just one example of our willingness to display our processes and techniques. We unveiled the Denim Kitchen, where a ‘chef’ prepared a pair of Mavi jeans right then and there. We drew parallels between the preparation of a gourmet meal and the crafting of a pair of Mavi jeans: the immaculate attention required for each unique thread, rivet, and zipper; the mastery over our tools; and the final touches that make us proud to call them Mavi jeans. Like watching any master at work, the crowd was spellbound by this process of creation, from washing and processing right through to finishing.
Even with our heritage of craftsmanship, we never stay still, always pushing for innovation. Since 1991, we’ve become Turkey’s biggest fashion label. We have ventured onto the global stage, being featured in over 4,000 stores, in 50 countries, with more than 285 of our own retail stores. With the likes of Lady Gaga, Adriana Lima, Kate Winslet, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Jason Biggs on our side, it’s easy to see why our shade of Mavi is anything but ordinary.
